A lace used in the bonnets from Western-Brabant.

In the 1980th the lace came in the spotlights again.
Many caps with this lace were found back and were reconstructed.
The old patterns are our examples to make the modern ones.
Embroidery with bobbins, by Thea de Roode.
The idea for this type of lace came when she was working on a Lutac pattern.
In Lutac there is a base, a filling and a covering mantle.
Now she uses a readymade fabric with a linen weave as base, this will save time and work.
Needle Lace Zele style, by Gerda Cramer.
During the Lace Event you can get acquainted with the technique of the classic Zele needle lace.
These old lace is created with feston stitches.
It is a labour-intensive and slow technique, which requires a lot of patience of the needle lace makers, but gives a unique result.
Fortunately the course is spread over a few days, so there will be space for personal guidance when making a unique piece of needle lace.
The result of the course will be a flower-corsage.
Therefore multiple loose petals are connected to each other and at the end there will be a heart in the centre.
This heart can be a "Dutch Button" or you can make it with small beads.
You can choose from different type of petals. First you learn to prepare the work piece and then you start the lacework.
At least two types of fillings, suitable for the petals, will be learned.
It would be nice to make a kind of sampler and the petals varying.
In the next Bulletins there will be more information about the courses.
